Magazine inspiration - Part 5

It seems like ages since I've posted images of one of the many (many) homes which inspired me in undertaking my renovations.

Here is a gorgeous property, as featured in Home Beautiful Magazine. I think what I love most about this property is the way they have incorporated a bit of that mid-century feel into what is a very sleek and contemporary home.

I'm loving the Eames DSW chairs and collection of vintage bottles on the table.

We all know I love a good vintage style sideboard - this one featured above, in combination with the French poster is a winner in my books.

Want to steal their style? You could start with a few replica eames chairs from Matt Blatt (not bad at $99 a pop). As you can see these chairs are super sexy, even teamed with a relatively simple table. They come in red and black as well, if you want a hint of colour in your life:

If you're like me and love a bit of vintage glassware, eBay is the place for you to be. Here are a few gorgeous examples I found currently on offer from the seller atlantictreasure. While they are a bit chunkier than the ones pictured above, I think the colours are amazing.

Finish it all up with a retro poster and voila - your home might be featured in Home Beautiful one day!

Magazine Inspiration - Part 3

Here are some photos of yet another house (or at least a room) which I love.

I have to admit I'm a bit jealous of whoever owns this house - they have the most amazing eye. For example, I think if I saw that rug on it's own it would get the thumbs down from me.

Similarly, those pillows could scream "granny" if taken out of context. But together - the gorgeous mustard yellow sofa, the Eames style coffee table it's just perfect. I love the colour palette and the eclectic feel of the room.

Isn't the telephone table (complete with retro phone) just the perfect touch?

FYI - if you're after that gorgeous coffee table, you can purchase similar from Matt Blatt or Click-On Furniture.

All quiet on the western front

It's funny how inspiration comes in peaks and troughs. I've been pretty quiet on here of late and in all honesty, I blame it on painting my stupid house!

I take it back, my house is by no means stupid - but I'm at a point where I just want it finished (and to look like it jumps out of the pages of a Vogue living magazine). I know - completely unrealistic expectations for a 20-something's first home, but a girl can dream.

I'm not meaning to advertise here, but being the lover of designer furniture (and the replica versions which I can afford) that I am - I just fell in love with this image advertising Click-On furniture's sale.

The tulip table...

The DCM chairs...

The shaggy rug... the full length curtains... the collection of vases... it's just perfection! And it's making me re-think my table and chair choices!

Teak tables

It's no secret that I love mid-century inspired furniture. So I'm sure you can imagine my delight when I managed to pick up this gorgeous round teak extension table from eBay.

I had been to several antique and mid-centry design shops on the hunt for a similar table. However, these shops were just out of my price range. It may take time, but trawling sites like eBay and Gumtree is a fantastic way to find affordable furniture.

I plan to place it in my dining area, under my Ikea knappa pendant light.

This table is absoutely perfect for me and my house! Since my dining area is quite small, I can keep the table in it's unextended position for the majority of the time. Then on the occasions that I have a few extra guests for dinner, it extends easily. It may be kitsch, but it's very practical.

I'm hoping to pair the table with some replica Eames DSR (eiffel) chairs. Isn't this pale green set just divine?

However, in my house I think I will stick with the classic white.
